Carbon Neutral® Certification

Certification CarbonNeutral®

GoCar Tours has taken the first in a series of steps to reduce its impact on the environment by achieving CarbonNeutral® company status for our global operations. GoCar Tours engaged The CarbonNeutral Company, a world leading carbon offset and carbon management business, to measure the CO2 emissions of our vehicle operations, electricity use, business travel and employee commuting across all our operations in Barcelona, Lisbon, San Francisco, San Diego and Miami. To reduce the emissions to net zero, GoCar purchased carbon credits, also known as carbon offsets, which means that every ton of CO2 produced is matched by an equivalent amount saved by a project elsewhere in the world.

For GoCar, this represents the first of many steps the company is taking towards being an environmentally sustainable company."

"By deciding to take full responsibility of our CO2 emissions today, we hope to lead the way for others that rely heavily on burning fuel for their tour operations, to consider implementing a carbon management strategy, so that we as an industry do not further contribute to global warming.

Nathan Withrington, CEO

GoCar selected a portfolio of projects around the world to offset their footprint. They are:

1. Callahuanca Hydro Power in Peru

2. Raigarh waste heat-recovery project in India
3. Garcia River Forest project in the State of California

GoCar Tours has a new vehicle that passed the EPA test for its vehicle class in November 2008. On March 3, 2009, GoCar received EPA certification for US importation. These vehicles shall be pressed into tour service in summer 2009. This engine represents a major step for small companies, such as GoCar, who want to lower emissions without using tax credits or subsidies.
This new vehicle will reduce GoCar’s carbon footprint significantly and therefore reduce the amount of carbon offset that they need to purchase to remain a CarbonNeutral ® company, saving money in the long run. The company has no plans to pass the cost of carbon offset along to its customers.
