La Pedrera

Barcelona has many places that are worth a visit, the Sagrada Familia, Casa Battló, the Cathedral and so on. Though, are you travelling to Barcelona in 2014 and are you planning to go sightseeing? Then you might be in for a surprise as one of Barcelona´s architectural treasures will be covered in scaffolding for one year. La Pedrera, or Casa Milà, one of the most famous buildings in Barcelona that was designed by Antoni Gaudí, can´t be seen in it´s full glory from January 2014 onwards. After the Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera is one of the most visited buildings in Barcelona. La Pedrera, Catalan for ´the quarry´, was finished in 1910 and after an era it was in urgent need of some renovations. In January 2014, the first steps of the renovation of La Pedrera were taken and estimated is that the renovation will be finished around January 2015. Spain´s most exclusive shopping street, Passeig de Gràcia, will miss one of its most famous facades for one year, nevertheless La Pedrera can still be visited and admired during 2014 and there are many more fantastic buildings to be seen on Passeig de Gràcia.

Almost every tour of GoCar Barcelona passes by La Pedrera, after which the tours continue with Passeig de Gràcia and will pass by Casa Battló in the direction of Plaça Catalunya. Do not worry, La Pedrera might be covered in scaffolding, but now you can focus more on one of the other great sights that Barcelona has to offer.
