It’s no a secret that sport is one of the best ways to publicize a city, to have a club in a competition, national or international, make at least that the name of such city to be heard or read by fans of such competition, but sometimes the names of the clubs can cause mistakes. Very classic example is the case of Spain’s football team named Osasuna. It is very common that people that hears that name for first time thinks that the name of the city where the football team plays as local is Osasuna rather than Pamplona.

Something very similar happens with Barcelona, a lot of media around the world provide information, daily or almost daily, about F.C.Barcelona. On such information the names F.C.Barcelona, Barcelona or Barça are used interchangeably and this sometimes can cause some confusion to audience, they can think that it is always possible to replace the word Barcelona by Barça and that is not always correct because the word Barça should be used only when referring to the club, not to the city. The expressions such as “I am now living in Barça” or “I am going to Barça” are completely wrong and is worse to write Barca, using the letter c instead of the letter ç. The locals use the word Barna or Bcn, like the international airport code, when referring to the city.
